FAQ What are the typical user groups of the Swiss Master Light® ?
Orthodontists for example appreciate the fast curing mode for the time saving during the polymerization of the numerous brackets.
Cerec users recommend the Swiss Master Light® for the indirect polymerization which ensures a state of the art restoration even through thicker layers. In cosmetic dentistry the Swiss Master Light® is widely accepted and well known for the enhancement of the bleaching procedure. The general practioner admires the fast and reliable cure of all composites on the dental market. Patient comfort is due to the short curing times highly appreciated. Why does EMS have a halogen unit and did not shift towards LED units ?
The Swiss Master Light® is the most versatile fast curing unit on the dental market. It can be used for Fast Cure, Cerec and Bleaching. This is only possible thanks to its high light power and unique light spectrum. LED units achieve neither comparable light power nor light spectrum.
How can the Swiss Master Light® achieve such a high optical power ?
The Swiss Master Light® uses a unique and patent pending water cooling system. Therefore, the high power halogen bulb, developed by Philips specifically for this product, can be built into the handpiece. This could not be achieved with a standard cooling fan.
Which halogen bulb is used in the Swiss Master Light® ?
Especially for EMS designed 340 W high power halogen bulb, manufactered by Philips. The costs for a spare bulb are comparable to standard halogen bulbs used in dental light curing units. One additional spare bulb comes with the unit - for free.
Are there different kinds of light guides available ?
There are 2 different 11 mm light guides available:
- an acrylic single use light guide which can be purchased in a box with 50 pieces. - an easy to clean glass light guide, which is autoclavable. Why does EMS offer 11 mm light guides ?
An 11 mm diameter light guide tip is able to cover the entire molar. Therefore, the Swiss Master Light® can polymerize even larger restorations with one shot and time can be economized.
Which composites can be polymerized with the Swiss Master Light® ?
The Swiss Master Light® offers a broad light spectrum between 400 and 510 nm. This special feature provides the unique possibily to polymerize all light initiated dental materials such as composites and bleaching gels.
What is the difference between plasma light curing units and the Swiss Master Light® ?
The Swiss Master Light® is the most powerful light curing unit ever, using the advantages of approved halogen technology. Thanks to the patented water cooling technology spare bulbs can be offered for a standard price and be replaced by the customer, whereas plasma bulbs are very expensive and can not be exchanged easily.
Is it necessary to top off the cooling liquid ?
Yes, the level of liquid should be checked periodically and if necessary topped off with destilled water.
Is eye protection necessary ?
Yes, as for all dental light curing units eye protection is necessary and strongly recommended.
