Scaling

Scaling may be defined as a procedure to remove calculus (tartar), soft deposits (plaque) and stains from teeth. This procedure can be performed supra or subgingivally.

On this page, we present the instruments, which are made for supragingival removal of calculus (tartar). You can also find on our website information concerning sub-gingival treatments in the Periodontics section and information about supragingival removal of soft deposits and stains in the Prophylaxis section.

Supragingival calculus removal should be a part of every professional teeth cleaning process. EMS Piezon® technology makes this procedure more time and cost-effective and delivers higher patient comfort than any other product.

Due to the controlled backward and forward motion of Piezon® Scaling instruments (see also Piezon® Technology), the dentist can perform a treatment which is at the same time efficient and gentle for the patient. It is important to use a precise technique (see illustrations below), to fully benefit from these advantages.

Compared to hand instrumentation, Piezon® Scaling instruments do not only save time and are much more pleasant for patients but also much less tiring for the operator and may even prevent tendonitis.

BEFORE PIEZON® SCALING AFTER PIEZON® SCALING

Piezon® Scaling instruments have an outstanding lifetime as a result of precise manufacturing and high-quality material.

Combined with the unique CombiTorque®, Piezon® Scaling instruments also offer a hygiene concept like no other product. The CombiTorque® is an all-in-one instrument, comprising of:
a precise torque wrench for connecting the instrument on the handpiece, an instrument holder for when the instrument is stored, a sterilization tool for the instrument in the autoclave and protection of the operator/patient before use of the instrument.
